IRLP

Internet Radio Linking Project
IRLP is available for use on 443.450 by any licensed Amateur Radio operator. There are no special codes to access IRLP. Simply dial the node number via your radio's DTMF pad to connect to an IRLP node. To disconnect from a node, you must wait until the remote node is not transmitting and dial "73" on your DTMF pad.

Technical Information

The IRLP computer is located at our repeater site. It is a 166Mhz K6-2 with 96MB of RAM. The sound card is a Creative Lab's Sound Blaster 16i (ISA). It is housed in a 4U 19" rack mount case that was purchased at the Dayton hamfest for $10 ;). It is running an updated version of Redhat Linux 6.2.

The network connection is a 2.4Ghz 802.11b link. Jeff Henry (KG4ZIE) has been gracious to share his cable Internet connection for the IRLP and VoIP phone patch. His house is about 1000 feet from the repeater site. There is a 2.4Ghz, 2 foot dish antenna located at the repeater site that points down on KG4ZIE's house. It is connected to a Linksys WET11 Wireless Bridge via 50Ft of LMR-400. At KG4ZIE's house, there is a Linksys WAP11 located in a plasic utility box. It is mounted to the side of the house that faces the repeater site.
